Played with passion, the six-concert Government House series combines intimate chamber classics with the elegance of Saskatchewan’s historic Government House. This season, the Regina Symphony Chamber Players will astound you during our Government House series concerts, Beethoven String Quartet and Brahms and Ravel, both of which Music Director Gordon Gerrard joins the RSCP once again for. The series concludes with Carmen, a concert featuring a suite of music from Bizet’s operatic work of genius!
The Regina Symphony Orchestra strives to enrich the lives of our youngest patrons. The RSO Great-West Life, London Life & Canada Life Kids Kids Concert Series is a gateway for children to learn more about classical music. This year the series will commence with a parade of favourites for kids of all ages during Carnival of the Animals on October 15, 2017. Our series continues with Comic Orchestra with Christopher Hall, a hilarious mockery of the rituals embedded into classical music, and finally, the legendary Juno Award winning Al Simmons returns for Something’s Fishy with Al Simmons! Pre-Concert activities begin at 2:00PM before each concert. Join in for inspiring creativity and family fun before each concert!
Our Masterworks Series opens on September 23, 2017 with an evening of exotic wonder featuring a performance with the world’s premier solo percussionist, Dame Evelyn Glennie. The series continues with two concerts featuring the works of your favourite composers in A Night of Beethoven, and Tchaikovsky & Mozart ! With gifted guest artists and conductors, including Grammy and Juno Award winning Music Director of the VSO Bramwell Tovey, the eight-concert Masterworks series will leave you wanting more.
The RSO presents a city-wide favourite and holiday tradition, Handel’s Messiah. First performed in 1742, the Messiah remains a much loved classic narrative of the Nativity. The memorable choruses, beautiful arias, and grand ceremony ring in the Christmas season with joy.
The Shumiatcher Pops Concert Series explores the world of performance like you have never experienced before. You won’t be able to stop yourself from feeling the passion during our series opener Dancing Queen - The Music of Abba on October 21, 2017, an orchestral celebration of every music lovers’ biggest guilty pleasure! We will continue with the return of Cirque De La Symphonie,fresh with new breathtaking circus feats, and conclude with City Lights By Charlie Chaplin, a live film and orchestral presentation of Charlie Chaplin’s masterpiece!
