This program focuses on members of our rural community, who may not have access to our regular concerts due to a variety of reasons such as, financial barriers, mobility challenges, cultural diversity, and geographic distances. Your RSO will addresses these issues in several ways: By providing free or low cost concerts By performing concerts in schools, community centers, and churches By performing concerts in rural communities
Musicians travel throughout Southern Saskatchewan's cities and towns performing at local high schools in the afternoon and then in the evening performing a public concert for the community at a local venue. The afternoon Education Concert reaches many children in Southern Saskatchewan. We perform at a local high school and invite the surrounding feeder schools to attend. Students will not only have the opportunity to see and hear a live performance but also learn and interact with the musicians. The Rural Community Music Program has many benefits, including: Reaching members of our community whose financial circumstances are deterrents to attending regular concerts. Quality music is not for the financially privileged of our community - it is for everyone. Reaching members of our community whom, because of physical barriers, may not be able to attend at our regular concert venues. This would include performing for seniors in nursing homes, community centers and churches, and may include performing in medical facilities for long-term care patients. Reaching the rural segments of our community who may not be able to travel the distance to the City of Regina to attend a regular performance. Reaching new audiences to share the love and experience of quality music.
Today's children are tomorrow's audience. Exposure to music at a young age develops an appreciation for music that lasts a lifetime. Music has the ability to stir your emotions, ease stress, and soothe the soul. We believe our music must be open to all members of our community and above all, it must be relevant and fun. |
